Those looking for relaxation will love Serenity Bay – an adults-only area with gentle surf and swaying palm trees. A beachfront restaurant and bar offer a laid-back atmosphere. Probably one of the hardest things to book on the island (unless you are a Platinum Castaway Club Member or a Concierge Guest) is renting a private cabana on Castaway Cay. One of the most amazing things about Castaway Cay is Scuttle’s Cove. The amazing kids club that is onboard your Disney cruise, comes ashore and can entertain your kids in a secure environment at scuttles cove. There are also hammocks to enjoy a lovely nap and servers coming around serving delicious beverages to enjoy the day.
Which Castaway Cay Cabana is Best?
There is so much to see and do at Castaway Cay, from swimming and snorkeling in the blue lagoon to setting out on an adventure in a kayak or paddleboat. If you’re looking for a thrill, swim out to Pelican Plunge and hit the waterslides! Once you’ve had your fill of sunshine, head over to the In Da Shade Pavilion, where the whole family can enjoy various games like ping pong, basketball, and more.
Disney Castaway Cay Dining
You can rent snorkeling equipment for $29 for adults, $14 for children for the whole day. There are some paid activities and excursions on Castaway Cay as well. There are a variety of Disney Castaway Cay excursions to choose from.
The price of this is $40 so this offers good value if you think you will take advantage of all of these things. For guests ages three and up, bike rentals are a great way to enjoy the island’s natural beauty. There are two nature trails, and you can stop to climb the island’s observation tower, a somewhat remote stop with unspoiled views of Castaway Cay. Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure is another Disney Cruise Line favorite.
The cabanas tend to book up right away but they are simply amazing. We have never booked one ourself but our friends from Tink’s Magical Vacations recently did. We visited their cabana and now are dying to have one ourselves. You can drop off your little ones and then head off to the adults-only Serenity Bay and enjoy a beach full of….. If you have your own snorkel gear, snorkeling is free, you just need to wear one of these inflatable yellow life vests (see pic above). Our server at Palo recommended always checking out the Serenity Bay BBQ, if possible, because sometimes they have a slightly better menu if the ship has a surplus of certain items. Consider making an effort to doing the hours around lunch at Serenity Bay, so you can avoid the large crowds elsewhere, but doing something else before and after that. It's also smart to stay hydrated during your day on island. Mix up your water intake with some of the sports drinks at the soda machines to keep your electrolytes up.
It is an incredible experience to watch the ship approach Castaway Cay. It is fun to know a little about the rather dubious past history of Castaway Cay. Contrary to popular belief Disney does not actually own Castaway Cay. A very limited number of cruises also stop at Castaway Cay twice in one sailing.
Guests can enjoy Castaway Cay even more by adding an extra fee activity to your itinerary, such as renting bicycles or reserving a cabana. You can also rent kayaks, paddleboards, water floats, and water trikes on-site to explore the pristine waters surrounding this tropical paradise. Serenity Bay Beach, located in another part of the island, has a beautiful beach, a Jimmy Buffet-style bar, and a delicious barbeque joint. Located right next to the ship, Family Beach is the largest and most active beach on Castaway Cay. It offers stunning crystal blue water and complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas, and hammocks.
